SYDNEY - April 15, 2021 — While international vacations are on pause, millions of daters are taking flight with Tinder’s Passport. Yet, 76% of members using Passport are making matches in a country that speaks a language different than their own. To avoid flirtations getting lost in translation, Tinder is partnering with Duolingo to give 100,000 Tinder members a free month of Duolingo Plus.
Starting today, Tinder members can ditch Google Translate and take up free lessons on Duolingo to better communicate with their long distance connections. With lessons in 40 languages, Duolingo Plus will allow redeeming members to have a premium experience and unlimited learning.
“Passport is one of our most popular paid features and since it’s been free we’ve had our busiest day of 2021,” said Udi Milo, VP Product, Tinder. “In the first week alone there was a 25% increase in the number of matches made as a result of the feature, so a partnership with Duolingo will help our members spark conversations easily, no translation needed.”
Based on the most popular countries Tinder members are using the Passport feature to match in, here are the best languages to learn to improve your global dating game:
The Passport feature is available for free to all Tinder members until April 30, and is located within the Tinder app’s settings. Simply tap your location, add a new location and drop a pin to flirt around the world.
Tinder was introduced on a college campus in 2012 and is the world’s most popular app for meeting new people. Available in 190 countries and 40+ languages, Tinder is the highest grossing non-gaming app globally. It’s been downloaded more than 430 million times and led to more than 60 billion matches.
Duolingo is the most popular language-learning platform and the most downloaded education app worldwide. The company's mission is to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. Duolingo offers over 100 total courses across 40 distinct languages, and is available on iOS, Android, and Web at www.duolingo.com.
