As Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Laura Michel spearheads Match Group’s global Tinder Legal Team. Joining Match Group in 2017 as the first in-house attorney dedicated to Tinder, Laura has built a diverse and internationally-based team, overseeing all legal aspects of Tinder’s tech-driven business and growth. Her results-oriented approach has established her as a uniquely effective executive and legal leader, with a track record of driving Tinder’s advancement through continuous tech innovation and stringent global regulation.
Before her tenure at Tinder, Laura was Associate General Counsel at ad-tech platform Rubicon Project (now Magnite), where she played a pivotal role providing commercial and tech-legal counsel while also building a global team during the company’s hypergrowth from startup through IPO. Laura started her legal career as an intellectual property associate at the prestigious IP firm Knobbe Martens.
Laura is deeply committed to fostering meaningful connections through the Tinder app and in real life. She is passionate about mentorship, team empowerment, and leading with authenticity. Laura holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Davis, graduating with multiple honors in both degrees.
